Five thousand anime enthusiasts from throughout North America to attend Youmacon 2008, Metro Detroit's first and only anime convention, now in its fourth year, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn at Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, Michigan from October 30 through November 2.
Youmacon 2008 attendees will meet leading anime voice actors face to face, compete for trophies in our costume contest, purchase anime collectibles and attend a formal Masquerade Ball. The convention provides non-stop 24 hour programming of games, contests, anime music videos, maid cafe, live events and video programming. Anime is a form of animation that originated in Japan and has become a multi billion dollar industry boasting tens of millions of passionate fans world wide. Anime is used in television series, films, video games, commercials and internet based releases and represents all genres of fiction.
Anime television series appear on the Cartoon Network, the Fox Kids Network, Warner Brothers stations and Sci-Fi Channels along with the dedicated Anime Network.
Among the distinguished guests who will appear in person at Youmacon 2008 are:
- Caitlin Glass who appeared as Winry Rockbell in "Full Metal Alchemist"
- Wayne Grayson who was Joey on "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and Michaelangelo in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
- Patrick Seitz who played Luke Valentine in "Hellsing" and Chopin in "Eternal Sonata"
- Walter Jones best known as Zack, The Black Ranger from "The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers"
- Paulie Schrier A ten year veteran of "The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers"
- Lemon Demon known best for the "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" and the creative minds behind The Potter Puppet Pals
