Maid Cafe
This otaku attraction commonly seen in anime and J-dramas such as "Densha Otoko" has been brought to the States by Youmacon! Be welcomed into a cafe-style setting Friday evening of the con and be served in style by our very own maids and munch on pastries and drinks with our guests.
To be present in the first hour of the Maid Cafe when you can meet and hang out with our guests, advance reservations are required. Visit the convention’s cosplay signup desk in Artists’ Alley to purchase one for US$10 or in exchange for a Platinum event ticket. Space is limited, so if you want in, sign up right away. For the latter part of the cafe, there will be no charge to enter, but there is no guarantee you will meet a guest at that time.
Cosplay Shougi
A unique cosplay event in which 40 cosplayers will get a chance to be a game of Japanese chess. Two shougi players will be selected prior to the convention to face off against one another. Then the cosplayers follow their moves on a life-size shougi board. Watch as the cosplayers role-play their characters and battle against each other in determining the shougi champion!
Live Action Mario Party
Everyone's favorite party game come alive! The audience is divided into four teams, and one player from each team will be selected to compete in a battle to be the Youmacon Star! Move around the board, collect items, play minigames, and call on your teammates for help! Warning: Mayhem will most likely ensue.
Mario Party After Dark
Everyone's favorite party game come alive...? Four teams compete against each other for the Youmacon Star...but late at night you have to watch out for tentacles, Pyramid Head, zombie rape, and rabid yaoi fangirls...Mature Content! 18 and over only.
Charity Cosplay Ball
You are cordially invited for a grand evening of music and dancing. Dress in your classiest attire or a formal cosplay creation and ballroom dance for charity. Patrons are encouraged to wear masks and have the most regal Youmacon ever!
To be admitted to the ball, purchase a ticket at the cosplay signup table in Artists' Alley for $10 or in exchange for a Platinum event ticket.
The Charity Cosplay Ball requires all attendees to wear formal outfits or formal cosplay. Clothing and cosplay of the opposite gender are permitted, as long as the attendee's appearance and behavior is formal and tasteful.

Part of the fun of doing karaoke at conventions is doing it in Japanese. I think it's unfair for people to enter...
The following items exemplify what is appropriate for the ball:
- Tuxedos
- Dark suits
- Ball gowns
- Cocktail dresses
- Evening gowns
- Prom dresses
- Dinner suits
- Respectable military attire
- Kimonos and other foreign formal outfits
- Gothic Lolita fashion
The following items exemplify what is not appropriate:
- Shirts with the absence of both jacket and tie
- T-shirts
- Jeans
- Dresses and skirts that fall excessively high on the body
- Sneakers
- Western sandals and flip-flops
- School uniforms
- Costumes that could be considered offensive
- Large props and costume appendages
- Clothing that disregards the general cosplay rules

Sign up for five to ten minutes on stage of free open mic to try and see who is the most entertaining stand-up comic. Fairly simple plan, right? Bring your best material or improvise, cosplay-friendly or casual, no big deal. Participate for a prize or just try and get a few laughs. Bring a friend with you for kicks! It’s all for fun so no need to be shy, give it your best shot!

Three days of constant anime goodness not enough for you? Then come to our annual Cosplay Slumber Party, where you can rock out with your friends before the con has even started! Events include: costume contest, video game competitions, raffles, and more! Come in cosplay, come in your PJs, or just come as you are… as long as you’re there and ready to have a blast! Doors open at 10pm and the party goes till 1am, so come party with us - before crashing in your room - to get even more hyped up for one amazing weekend!!

Three days of constant costuming and conventioning just not enough for you? Come Thursday night to the Cosplay Halloween PJ party! This year's theme: Halloween! So come as your favorite anime, video game, manga, movie, cartoon, comic (or even Disney princess!) character in their PJs - or Halloween costume! We'll also have games, movies, and all of those other great things that make PJ parties fun! See you there! Doors open at 10. Costume Contest at Midnight. Doors close at 2am.

Youma Idol
So, you like to sing. You think you've got talent. Are you ready to put your vocal skills up to the challenge? Come and test your voice against other competitors in the onslaught that is Youma Idol! Ten finalists will compete against each other for the chance to be the best. So come and sing your heart out and give it all you've got for a chance at victory.
From now until Wednesday, September 30, Youmacon attendees will have the opportunity to enter. Entrants should prepare a 1 to 1½ minute audition recording of their best work, and upload it in MP3 format to a file sharing service such as RapidShare or MegaUpload. Then e-mail full name, age, song title, song artist, series if applicable, and download link to kojikasanzaki@yahoo.com.
Contest Rules
- Songs must be in Japanese and less than six minutes in length.
- Printed lyrics may not be used. Vulgar lyrics are not permitted.
- The background music must be a karaoke version, without main vocals.
In mid-October, ten entrants will be chosen to perform in the exhibition at Youmacon. Contestants chosen to perform at the event should have two songs prepared to sing. Audition songs may be used as an entry. Further information will be requested of contestants in the notification e-mail.
At the convention, contestants must check in at Panel 4 half an hour prior to the contest. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. All contestants will perform in an initial round, then the judges will choose five finalists for a final round. The final round will determine the first, second, and third place contestants.

Dance
The Youmacon 2009 dance will blow the doors off the ballroom. Bright lights, killer sound, and the musical stylings of our DJs will leave you yearning for more.
Karaoke
Come up on stage and perform your favorite anime themes or other Japanese songs! Bringing your own CD is encouraged for a sure opportunity to sing the song you want.
Scavenger Hunt
Our popular con-wide scavenger hunt continues. Hunt down new cards for our collectible card game! Hidden around the convention in boxes and on staff members are cards for you to find and present for prizes. Grab a list at registration and enjoy the challenge of the hunt!
Dance Gatherings
Been practicing your ParaPara, or just have an urge to Caramelldansen? Youmacon has gatherings for these and other popular group dances Saturday afternoon in front of the hotel. Check the schedule in the back of the guide for times.
Autographs
Ever wanted to meet one of Youmacon’s fantastic guests face to face and have the opportunity to get their photo and autograph? This is your chance!
Autograph Rules
- A maximum of four items per attendee may be signed. If you wish for more, you may return to the end of the line and have one additional item signed upon each return to the front, time permitting.
- Only one photograph per guest may be taken during autograph sessions.
- Platinum registrants must notify a guest relations staffer of their presence in the first 30 minutes of a session to be granted autograph priority.
- Guests will not sign pirated/bootlegged materials. Ask guest relations staff if you are not certain if an item is legitimate.
- Do not request phone calls and voice mail recordings during autograph sessions.
- Use common sense if you choose to give a gift to a guest.
- Due to time constraints, the line length may be limited, and attendees in back may not receive autographs.
- Remember to expedite your time spent at the autograph table to let the line proceed.
