Maid Cafe

Maid Cafe

This otaku attraction commonly seen in anime and J-dramas such as "Densha Otoko" has been brought to the States by Youmacon! Be welcomed into a cafe-style setting Friday evening of the con and be served in style by our very own maids and munch on pastries and drinks with our guests.

To be present in the first hour of the Maid Cafe where you can meet and hang out with our guests, advance reservations are required. Visit the convention's cosplay signup table to purchase one for $10 or in exchange for a Platinum event ticket. Space is limited, so make sure that if you want in, you don't waste time signing up. For the latter part of the cafe, there will be no charge to enter, but there is no guarantee you will meet a guest at that time either.

Cosplay Shougi

Cosplay Shougi

A unique cosplay event in which 40 cosplayers will get a chance to be a game of Japanese chess. Two shougi players will be selected prior to the convention to face off against one another. Then the cosplayers follow their moves on a life-size shougi board. Watch as the cosplayers role-play their characters and battle against each other in determining the shougi champion!

Cosplay Shougi now has signups open for cosplayers interested in being shougi pieces! No knowledge of shougi is required.

Live Action Mario Party

Live Action Mario Party

Everyone's favorite party game come alive! The audience is divided into four teams, and one player from each team will be selected to compete in a battle to be the Youmacon Star! Move around the board, collect items, play minigames, and call on your teammates for help! Warning: Mayhem will most likely ensue.

Mario Party After Dark

Everyone's favorite party game come alive...? Four teams compete against each other for the Youmacon Star...but late at night you have to watch out for tentacles, Pyramid Head, zombie rape, and rabid yaoi fangirls...Mature Content! 18 and over only.

Royal Masquerade Ball

You are cordially invited for a grand evening of music and dancing. Dress in your classiest attire or a formal cosplay creation and ballroom dance for charity. Patrons are encouraged to wear masks and have the most regal Youmacon ever!

To be admitted to the ball, purchase a ticket at the cosplay signup table in Artists' Alley for $10 or in exchange for a Platinum event ticket.

The Royal Masquerade Ball requires all attendees to wear formal outfits or formal cosplay. Clothing and cosplay of the opposite gender are permitted, as long as the attendee's appearance and behavior is formal and tasteful.

Otaku Family Feud

The five of you stuff yourselves into a single quad and lie about it to hotel staff. You share the collection of ramen you brought with each other. Why not try your combined heads at this adaptation of the classic television hit? Every team of five is invited to vie for a shot at huge prizes for their knowledge of anime and its fandom! After all, "The family that bathes ever, stays together!"

Anime Name That Tune

This classic, brought to you by Zephyr Game Shows, takes eight audience members and enters them into a single-elimination tournament where quick knowledge of anime music (and the occassional video game piece) makes or breaks your chances for big prizes. Audience members will also be eligible for prizes and Super Cool whenever the contestants get stumped like a nun in our hentai game show!

Amateur Anime Stand-up Comedy Contest

Sign up for five to ten minutes on stage of free open mic to try and see who is the most entertaining stand-up comic. Fairly simple plan, right? Bring your best material or improvise, cosplay-friendly or casual, no big deal. Participate for a chance of a prize or just try and throw a few laughs out there. Bring a friend up there with you for kicks! It's all for fun so no need to be shy, give it your best shot!

Cosplay Slumber Party

Cosplay Slumber Party

Cowabunga, anime dudes and dudettes! Three days of constant anime awesomeness not enough for ya? Come to Youmacon Thursday evening to join us for our annual Cosplay Slumber Party! This year our fabulous theme is Soap Operas... PSYCHE! This year, we're geared towards the good old anime and video games of the 90's! So dress to impress - 90's style! There will be games, prizes... everything from those good 'ol sleepovers... only better! Come in 90's PJ cosplay (or not, we won't be snooty and exclusive to non-cosplayers), bring your fanfics for bedtime story readings, team up to win fabulous prizes at random games and our mega-awesome-fabulous drawings! ... and all this before the bulk of the convention even starts! Feel free to bring your pillows and sleeping bags, and come chill with until 3:00 AM before crashing in your hotel room. And again, while cosplay is encouraged, it's not necessary, so come as you are, or as someone else, just be ready to have a radical time!

Anime Hell

SEE! The inexplicable march of confusing video! FEEL! The pain of film clips and TV segments ripped out of context! HEAR! The doomed screams of a million souls in torment! TASTE THE COLOR OF MADNESS! Anime Hell returns to bewilder and entertain with a whirlwind of fake and fraud, of comedy and consternation. PLUS: anime characters getting hit in the nuts..

Midnight Madness

Take a walk down the wild side and find out how the other half lives, if by 'other half' you mean 'people who dub Japanese cartoons with comedic intent.' You'll never believe how much more entertaining your favorite anime can be once some drunken college students have replaced the soundtrack with curse words and Metallica references. Starts at 12:05 am!

MST4K

A tribute to the original! Observe as Tony and Tom watch old movies and rip them apart. You'll laugh, we promise.

Dance

Dance

After the masquerade, we spin until the late night for your entertainment. Dance to your content as our DJ plays some of the best music around to keep the excitement from ending.

Karaoke

Come up on stage and perform your favorite anime themes or other Japanese music! Bringing your own CD is encouraged for a sure opportunity to sing the song you want.

Scavenger Hunt

Our popular con-wide scavenger hunt returns this year, and it's now a collectible card game. Hidden around the convention in boxes and on staff members are cards for you to find and present for prizes. Grab a list and enjoy the challenge of the hunt!
