ABCs of BJDs: A Doll Panel (+ Doll Cosplay Contest)

Postby islington » Sun Oct 15, 2006 2:40 pm

I got permission to start this new thread. There is currently a 'Dollfie Panel' thread here, but it's rather old and isn't actually about our panel at all.

SO! Any information about the panel will go here. If there are any questions about the panel, feel free to ask them here.

Also, be sure to check back soon; we're going to have some announcements about the panel within the next day or two.

New information!! (as of 10-25)

I know it's kind of last minute, sorry! But we decided to have a Doll Cosplay Contest at the panel! We know people really get a kick out of them, and with it being not too long after Hallowen, we thought it'd be a fun idea. Here's how it will work:

First, there are a couple of rules, just to keep things simple:

1. Two entires per person.
@. The costume must be handmade by the person entering it.
III. Reference pictures are appreciated, but not required.

Before the panel, we'll gather the following information from all entrants:

Doll's name:
Doll type:
Character cosplaying:
Your name:

If you want to have this information ready for us before you arrive, that would be even better and speed things up quite a bit. We'll also have a table in the Artist's Alley if you'd like to enter your dolls or ask questions before then. We should have a sign on the table with our panel schedule on it so you'll know who we are.

Once all the entrants have been accounted for you can either leave your doll on display for the first part of the panel, or take them to your seat with you. We'll take a break halfway through the panel and let people come up and look at all of the dolls, then cast their votes (we'll give you a pencil and paper). The votes will be counted while we finish the panel, and announced at the end. We'll be giving two awards: Popular Vote and Judge's Award. The Popular Vote award is for the doll that gets the most votes, and the Judges Award is for the doll Lelio and I personally want to give an award to. See? Two chances to win! There won't be any second or third places, sorry. Prizes will be announced at the panel, as we haven't decided what they will be yet. xD

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please let us know!

Would you order one and have them made, or do you make them before/at the Con?

I'm... not sure what you mean. There won't be any BJDs available to purchase at the panel. If you're interested in purchasing one, there are many companies you can order from over the internet. For more information on that, I'd suggest visiting the Den of Angels forums, there's a ton of information available there.

The panel is an informative look at the world of BJDs. We discuss certain terms/vocabulary, doll companies and the differences between them, custimisation, etc. If you're new to the hobby and want to learn more, I'd definitely suggest checking the panel out. We always take time at the end to answer any questions the audience might have.

I hope that helps?
