Five thousand anime enthusiasts from throughout North America will attend Youmacon 2009, Metro Detroit's first and only anime convention, now in its fifth year, at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn at the Fairlain Town Center in Dearborn, Michigan from October 29 through November 1.

Youmacon '09 attendees will meet leading anime voice actors in person, compete for masquerade and costume trophies, purchase anime collectibles and attend a Charity Cosplay Ball. The anime convention provides non-stop 24 hour programming of games, contests, anime music videos and video programming. For the second year, all proceeds from the sale of tickets to the Charity Cosplay Ball on Halloween Night will be donated to benefit the children of the Cornerstone Schools of Detroit.

Anime is a form of animation that originated in Japan and has become a multi billion dollar industry boasting tens of millions of passionate fans world wide. Anime can be hand drawn or computer assisted. It is used in television series, films, video games, commercials and internet based releases and represents all genres of fiction.

Anime television series appear on Cartoon Network, the Disney Channel and SyFy along with the Anime Network.

Among the distinguished anime voice actors who will appear in person at Youmacon '09 are:

Laura Bailey who appeared as Shin in "Crayon Shin-Chan"
Caitlin Glass who appeared as Yakumo in "School Rumble"
Wayne Grayson who was Joey on "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and Michaelangelo in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
Kyle Herbert who appeared as Kamina in "Gurren Lagann"
Michael Sinternklass who appeared as Leonardo in the 2003 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" cartoon
Travis Willingham who appeared as Roy Mustang in "Fullmetal Alchemist"
