We wanted to take the time to thank everyone for an amazing weekend. There were a few hiccups, but overall the event was a huge success. We are still calculating numbers, be we estimate approximately 20k-23k attendees this year.
We are all home and getting some rest now, but we did want to address a few things really quickly. First, and most importantly, we have been getting reports from some of the artists in artist alley that they have tested positive for Covid-19. We highly encourage everyone, whether you spend significant time in Artist Alley or not, to take precautions and get tested for Covid-19 if possible. Please be on the lookout for the following signs of infection and take appropriate action;
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
Additionally, we are saddened to report that we have been notified that some of our staff failed to provide due care towards our attendees with accessibility concerns. We have addressed individual cases where we can and will be conducting a mandatory review of our policies going into 2023.
There are a few other issues we will be addressing in the future once we have time to conduct proper investigations into what went wrong. That being said, we hope everyone had a great time and look forward to seeing you all next year!In the very near future, be on the lookout for our early bird special on badges for next year’s event, more announcements, and a live AMA on twitch @ https://www.twitch.tv/youmaconofficial.

(Editor’s note: Hello. This is Trevor Cuba, head of Press and Media at Youmacon. While I am writing this I wanted to not only give a shoutout to our AMAZING staff this year, but to also humbly ask you, the attendees who attended, to use this form to give a shoutout to something you loved about this year’s Youmacon. 9/10 issues at Youmacon this can be boiled down to “we are very short staffed due to a combination of budget and covid restrictions”. And to be perfectly honest, we were crunched HARD this year. We all love the convention and do what we can to make it a success year after year. By all means, do not hesitate to bring up any issues or concerns you may have about the event this year, but if there was anything that brightened your weekend the staff would LOVE to hear about it. Thank you)
If you there are any special guest you would love to see at a future event, please let us know here!
If you would be interested in joining staff, please fill out the form below!
(Note: It may take a while to hear back on this as staffing is often organized in spring/summer, and that is if a department has any opening in the first place. Please do not be alarmed if you do not get a response)
Finally, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you and have an amazing year!
