Bathroom of the Future

Bathroom of the Future (it’s from The Simpsons, long story) is a self described nerd rock/pop punk band, made up of four friends from Michigan doing the best they can.

The band consists of Timothy David (vocals, guitar, and keyboards in the studio), Sean Farquhar (bass and vocals), and James Layle (drums and vocals) with the recent addition of their friend Brendan Kuras on vocals and keyboards, and has been playing shows since 2015. In that time they’ve released two EPs and one full-length, appeared on a few charity compilations, and have gone on several tours of the Midwest and the East Coast. Throughout these shows and tours, they’ve been given the opportunity to play with a number of their friends and heroes including Cybertronic Spree, mc chris, Mega Ran, Bit Brigade, and Pkew Pkew Pkew, as well as appearances on the main stage at DragonCon and at festivals such as StoopFest and the Hamtramck Music Festival.

Bathroom of the Future’s music draws influence from the punk and emo bands they grew up listening to, such as Nerf Herder, Devo, Rozwell Kid, The Ataris, and Ozma, and they get compared to Weezer a lot but that’s probably just because of Tim’s glasses. The ‘nerd rock’ moniker comes from the band’s combination of heartfelt, introspective lyrics and frequently nerdy pop-culture references - their latest single, “Post Convention Depression” describes the feeling we all get when a convention is over, and their most recent EP “Maclunkey” blends lyrics about anxiety and depression with references to Sega, Space Ghost, Calvin & Hobbes, and more.

Recent releases from the band include the single “Post-Convention Depression” and six-track EP “Maclunkey”, both released via Laptop Punk Records in 2023 and 2023 respectively, the self-released three-song EP “Everybody Else Here Is Having Fun But Me”, and their self-released full-length album “Words I Had”.
